FINSCH. Finsch is one of the world's significant diamond mines and South Africa's second largest diamond operation by production (after De Beers' Venetia mine).
This course focuses on unit operations of mineral processing. Mineral separation processes of a physical and physicochemical nature are studied. Topics include size reduction, classifiion, flotation, flocculation, gravity concentration, magnetic, electrostatic separations and dewatering.
The Mineral Processing Flowsheets shown on the following pages are based on actual data obtained from successful operating plants. Metallurgical data are shown in these flowsheets which incorporate Crushers, Grinding Mills, Flotation Machines, Unit Flotation Cells, and Selective Mineral Jigs as well as other standard milling equipment.
Mineral Processing Design and Operations is expected to be of use to the design engineers engaged in the design and operation of mineral processing plants and including those process engineers who are engaged in flowsheets development. Provides an orthodox statistical approach that helps in the understanding of the designing of unit .
Finally, there will be laboratory demonstrations of most of the unit operations discussed in the class. Who should attend? This course is intended for engineers, scientists, technical sales teams, government agencies personnel, and others working in the field of mineral processing directly or in supporting roles.
